UCHealth Cherry Creek Medical Center opens, offering convenient access to specialties, advanced technology
September 9, 2020
UCHealth Cherry Creek Medical Center officially opens its doors this week, bringing to central Denver an ambulatory surgery center, cancer care with infusion and radiation therapy, extensive outpatient lab services, and a pharmacy open to the public – along with more than 20 key medical specialties including cardiology, oncology, urology, neurology, rheumatology and dermatology.
Located in the heart of Cherry Creek at 100 Cook St., the new five-story, 97,000-square-foot medical center offers a highly specialized team of approximately 70 providers from UCHealth and the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
“We know our patients want easy appointment scheduling and access to the specialists they need at a convenient location,” said Elizabeth Concordia, president and CEO of UCHealth. “The Cherry Creek Medical Center offers this with an excellent experience and lower costs.”
The outpatient surgery center offers surgical procedures ranging from breast surgery, oculoplastics and orthopedics to plastics, otolaryngology, urologic, vascular and more. Cherry Creek Medical Center’s advanced technology includes a linear accelerator, a DEXA bone density screening device, X-ray units, a vascular ultrasound screening device for carotid arteries and veins, low-radiation mammography, a photo therapy booth, and CT, MRI and PET CT imaging.
As the center is not a hospital, most patients will not be billed facility fees, which lowers costs and simplifies billing. Cancer patients receiving infusions and radiation will still experience hospital-based billing because these services are linked to those at University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Clinical trials, experimental therapies and innovative treatments offered to patients at the University of Colorado Cancer Center – the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center – sometimes years before they’re more broadly available are now available for patients at UCHealth Cancer Care – Cherry Creek.
“The approach we are taking to cancer treatment is unrivaled,” said Dr. Scott Kono, medical director of UCHealth Cancer Care – Cherry Creek and assistant professor of medicine at CU School of Medicine. “Our providers offer patients the highest level of care tailored to their particular needs, including access to subspecialists, within a community-based practice. The collaborative nature of this team model in this setting gives patients the comfort that they are truly receiving comprehensive care in an environment equipped with the latest technology alongside a personalized focus unique to each and every individual.”
Other service specialties offered at UCHealth Cherry Creek Medical Center include: Allergy & immunology, Audiology, Breast care, Diabetes and endocrinology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Plastic & reconstructive surgery, Pulmonology, and a Spine Center.
